Chris and I are going to NYC next week! This will be his first time AND he wanted to see the city at Christmas time! So we are going for his birthday/our Christmas present to each other. This will also be a first time for us leaving Bella for anything more than overnight! Yikes! I'll be ok, but is it bad that I'm already looking foward to coming home and seeing her? haha!
We are looking to have a great time and make the most of our trip. Any suggestions of what we should see or do???

Yes, Tortilla Flats for fun mexican dinner and I highly reccomend Magnolia Bakery for cupcakes. My sister lives there so if you run into a little southern girl it just might be her. Have fun! It will be hard to be away from Bella but it is always good to get refreshed especially with the hubby.
Oh vacation with kids is the best. You are ready to leave when you leave but it is just as exciting to come home. H
That is where B and I went the first time we left A and R for a long weekend..it was with his work though...still fun.
Gotta see the Statue of Liberty and take in a show...have fun!
Matt & I are heading to Vegas in about 2 weeks for our belated 5th anniversary and our Christmas present to each other as well. We haven't left Abigail that long before and it has been a while since we've left Madeline for that long. I understand the feeling of leaving them, but I think it is refreshing too! Enjoy your trip!
Go see the Rockettes Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall, and go ice skating (or watch ice skaters) at Rockefeller Center. Take a carriage ride through Central Park! Walk down 5th Avenue and look at the of the Holiday window displays. Get a Black and White cookie at a tiny bakery. Go window shopping at Tiffany's.
TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!
Katie, Just do what Heather did for me! She left me a list when I kept Harris one weekend that had every hour filled out with what I should be doing! Every detail was mentioned, down to how to give him his bottle at night (Go in bedroom, turn on CD, sit in rocking chair, give bottle, lay down in crib, say goodnight, leave room, shut door!). I saved all the notes for Harris to read one day. Plus, we both slept most of the night on the couch together, me holding him and loving it! When I told Heather, she got mad and told me that I could make a habit in just three days! Have a great time, Granti
you have to do the Empire State Bldg at night-- so romantic! Look for little "ethnic" places to eat, shop for fake bags on the south end near China town (tell them you want the "real" fake stuff- I have an "Hermes Birkin bag"- $40!), spend a day at Central Park and the Met Art Museum- both free! The Natural Science Museum is a lot of fun too b/c it's used in movies/TV so much.
Call me if you need more ideas-- I lived there for a semester during college. Have a wonderful time!
oh! And window shop at Macys-- they have the amazing Christmas displays out right now!
No suggestions because I've never been but would love to! Not that I have to say it but "take lots of pictures". have a blast! i'm jealous!
if you are going to be there over the weekend, there is this cool "up & coming" artists market. they are open in a little community center on the weekends and it's all these artists who sell their own creations...jewelry, purses, bags, clothes.... really not too expensive. let me know if you want the address. also, grimaldi's pizza in brooklyn is awesome! fyi - no credit cards. also, we went to brooklyn tabernacle (jim cymbala's church) and saw their christmas play...it was awesome... that's all i can think of right now. i wish i was going! i love new york at christmas time!
Two words - CASH CAB!!
My friend just moved there in August... I will get you the inside scoop on some good places to go to (that aren't super expensive). When we went last yr, we ate at some hole in the wall Irish Pub, and it was awesome. I think places like that are best. Have fun! It's incredible this time of year!
